When it comes accomplishing goals are you committed or interested?

SOME PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED

You see, a lot of people want to lose weight and get in shape, but they fall in the category of “interested.”

If you’re interested you work towards a goal only if you feel like it or it is convenient. Interested people tend to find all the excuses as to why they aren’t moving forward…

…I have some sniffles… I’m probably getting sick so I’ll skip my workout
…Work is too busy
…I have to eat what my kids eat
…My back is a little tight I better rest
…I’m too tired

And the list goes on…

Interested folks rationalize all day long and then get pissed when they don’t see results.

I love the saying “DON’T BE MAD AT THE RESULTS YOU DIDN’T GET FROM THE WORK YOU DIDN’T DO”

SOME PEOPLE ARE COMMITTED

Committed folks find a way to get it done no matter what.

…I’ll get up earlier for my workout if I have a busy day…
…I’ll loosen up my back before the workout if I’m tired and stiff…
…I know there will be a lot of bad food choices at the meeting so I’ll bring my own lunch…
…Life is extra busy right now but I will still MAKE time to exercise…

Committed gets results.  Interested keeps spinning.

There are few things more gratifying than committing to a tough goal and seeing it through.

GOALS WILL HAVE OBSTACLES

For example, last year when I committed to doing a physique show at 47, there were plenty of obstacles to navigate through.

  • We had a major water damage incident in our house but I didn’t let it derail me and throw me off course
  • I had to plan eating and exercise around a hunting trip and fishing opener so I packed my food and exercised outdoors
  • My original local competition got cancelled so I found another one in Omaha

THE JOURNEY BUILDS CHARACTER

When I got to my competition it was cool but not as rewarding as all the character that was built staying committed and not letting obstacles become excuses.

It’s your turn.

Are you ready to step up and truly to commit to something big in 2020?

P.S. Years ago I committed to growing my faith in God and spiritual walk. It has helped me in my business, marriage, fitness and friendships.  Myself and 6 other great presenters want to “pay it forward”  by helping other men who feel stuck in a rut.  It all starts with getting right with the mind and spirit.. the body will soon follow. Go here for more details.
