Lipps Inc. has a one hit wonder called “Funkytown.” Do you know that song?

The chorus goes “Won’t you take me down to Funkytown?”

Funkytown is not a real place but it can be a state of mind.

I’m talking about going into a FUNK.


A FUNK where you feel:

  • No passion
  • No drive
  • No energy
  • Unmotivated
  • Just going through the motions with everything
  • Isolated

I’ve been to “Funkytown.” How about you?

Time to whip a U-turn and get back in the zone.

Here are three ways I use to avoid or escape “Funkytown.”

  1. Get around people who challenge me and make me better
  2. Quit watching TV, Netflix, and social media which are time and energy suckers
  3. Use music, podcasts, and books to reprogram my mind and remotivate me
