We have this awesome cable cross machine in our gym and we get a lot of use out of it. However, as awesome as it is, the nuts on one arm come loose once in awhile.

So we have to check it weekly to make sure and tighten them back up.

LIFE WILL GET LOOSE IF WE LET IT

This is a great analogy to life.  Sometimes much like the nuts on the cable cross, we loosen up in areas and realize we have let things slide.

Things like…

  • Staying up later than we should
  • Using the credit card too much
  • Eating more junk than we usually do

It’s not a complete crash and burn but we start to notice things are sliding a bit.

Fitness is no different.

Let’s face it. It’s difficult to stay in great shape year round with the holidays, gloomy winter, vacations, and summer festivities.

It’s easy to loosen up on things just for some sanity sometimes.

However, when you loosen up too much something lets you know it’s time to tighten up.

  • You are out of breath after walking up the stairs
  • You can’t fit into a pair of pants anymore
  • You see a picture of yourself and don’t like the way you look
  • You receive a bad report at the doctor’s office

These “wake up calls” spur us into action.

With the gloomy winter we have had, a lot of people have loosened up too much… letting winter get into their head with more “hibernation.”  This consists of eating more and moving less.
