Crushed But Not Destroyed

An atari 2600 video game called raiders of the lost ark

2 Corinthians 4: 8-9 says "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed"

This passage would define my last 2 weeks which started with the flu and led into pneumonia.

Being sick does not just affect you physically but mentally. It crushed my motivation and left me discouraged at times.

In my mind I knew this would pass. I would get through it and recover. But it still put me in some dark moments at times if I'm being honest with you.

As I was laying around trying to recover last week I had this funny thought that flashed me back to the 80s when I had my Atari 2600 video game system. We got the Raiders Of The Lost Ark game and it required solving puzzles and challenges to find the Ark.

I got obsessed with winning this game and would spend hours trying to get to the next level.

I would get going and make some mistake screwing up the game, but I could hit the reset button and start over. So I could get back on track to finding the Ark.

Eventually I found the Ark, won the game, and completed the mission even though it took some resets to do it.

The same is true in life. I believe we need to reset just like with video games.

Many times things are going well and then life happens. Sickness, loss of a job, a divorce, depression and the list goes on.

For me being sick for 2 weeks calls for another hit to the reset button. It crushed me for 2 weeks... but it didn't destroy me.

Like phoenix from the ashes I will raise out of this and come back STRONGER.

Are you feeling like our health and fitness needs a "reset button"?

We can help. It starts by scheduling a Success Session by hitting the button below. In this session we will find out the best way to hit the reset button and help you find your "Lost Ark" of health and fitness.

Yesterday was the 40th running of the Twin Cities Marathon - The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America! If you are like me, you stop everything to take it all in. Marathon Day is one of my favorite days of the year! A happy place! So much goodness packed into one perfect fall day! And yesterday was no exception! 34 years ago my friend and I were curious. What is the marathon anyway? It was hard to visualize people running 26.2 miles from the Metrodome in Minneapolis to the Capitol in St. Paul. So without the assistance of Google maps, runner tracking apps or cell phones, we headed to St. Paul to "find the marathon." We rolled down our windows, drove up the Snelling Avenue hill and listened for people cheering. Sure enough we found it!

This is a sign that hung in my college football weight room. It meant a lot to me. It's what motivated me to put in extra work and ultimately become a scholarship athlete and starting offensive guard on the football team. It wasn't always like that though. My life could have been drastically different - and not for the better.
