Say "No More"

Say "No More"

A no more sign with a red circle around it.

"Don't complain about what you allow" is a saying I live by.

I've been reading this great book by former Navy Seal Jocko Willink. It's called "Discipline Equals Freedom."

In it, there are several passages based on the mindset of a Navy Seal.

Navy Seals are some of the toughest people in the entire world. A big reason for that is their mindset. There is alot we can tap into about their wisdom when it comes to dealing with tough circumstances and overcoming challenges.

Here is one of his Jockoisms that resented with me.

No More. No more.

No more "I'll start tomorrow."

No more "just this once."

No more accepting the shortfalls of my own will.

No more taking the easy road.

No more bowing down to whatever unhealthy or unproductive thoughts float through my mind.

No. No more.

No more waiting for the "perfect moment." No more indecision and no more lies.

No more weakness.

No. No more.

Now is the time for STRENGTH.

And through STRENGTH and through WILL and through UNWAVERING DISCIPLINE....

I will become what I want to be.

I will become who I want to be.

And then and only then --will I rest and say "no more."

That probably either scares you or fires you up. Maybe a little of both.

The truth is you don't have to stay where you are at today. You can change where you are at tomorrow by the decisions that you make. So make GOOD ones.

If one of the things you want to say "NO MORE" to is excess weight, then a GOOD decsion would be to join our F.A.T. Method program.

A group of people are running a marathon on a city street.

Yesterday was the 40th running of the Twin Cities Marathon - The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America! If you are like me, you stop everything to take it all in. Marathon Day is one of my favorite days of the year! A happy place! So much goodness packed into one perfect fall day! And yesterday was no exception! 34 years ago my friend and I were curious. What is the marathon anyway? It was hard to visualize people running 26.2 miles from the Metrodome in Minneapolis to the Capitol in St. Paul. So without the assistance of Google maps, runner tracking apps or cell phones, we headed to St. Paul to "find the marathon." We rolled down our windows, drove up the Snelling Avenue hill and listened for people cheering. Sure enough we found it!

This is a sign that hung in my college football weight room. It meant a lot to me. It's what motivated me to put in extra work and ultimately become a scholarship athlete and starting offensive guard on the football team. It wasn't always like that though. My life could have been drastically different - and not for the better.
