There are blessings about every season in Minnesota, but FALL is by far my favorite. The marathon. The cooler temperatures. Shorts and sweatshirts. Crisp cool mornings and warm afternoons. No mosquitos. The trees. And more trees. Beautiful vibrant colors everywhere you look. Eye catching leaves on trees. Crunchy leaves carpet the ground. School buses, kids at recess, people walking dogs, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and excellent photo opportunities. The list goes on.

So often when we feel a tight muscle we default to stretching. We've been told over and over, feel tight? Get stretched.
The problem is, the muscle never gets any looser and remains locked up.
What was it Albert Einstein said? "The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."
Your muscles are governed by your central nervous system which prioritizes protection over performance.
As you age, you tend to challenge your muscles less and less. They get weaker and weaker.

Summertime is officially here in Minnesota. Everyone is outside doing all the outdoor things Minnesotans love to do....hiking, fishing, camping, boating.
One of my favorite summertime activities is mountain biking. I'm blessed to have Lebanon Hills, one of the top mountain bike courses in Minnesota, right by my house. This course is a mountain biker's dream. Great trails, hills, tight switchbacks, and rocks...lots of rocks.
I've learned many lessons on my mountain biking journeys. These trails not only make for a great workout, they challenge me mentally.

Last week was Father's Day and I was grateful for the love I got from my family. Being a dad fits the Army slogan "It's the toughest job you'll ever love."
It's an important role and I take it seriously.
Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."'
This passage makes me think of a conference I was at several years ago. Famous author/speaker Andy Andrews said "it's not up to us to raise good kids. It's up to us to raise good adults."
This really stuck with me because I realize as a parent, my job is to develop my kids as best as I can so they are able to function in the real world.

If you have been reading my emails lately, you'll notice they all incorporate a Bible passage meaningful to me. I was recently ordained as a minister and I believe in the power of scripture in every aspect of life. This is why I start my emails with a message for you.
Today's message is "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:6
